Jac Caglianone's career-best 5 RBIs spur Royals past Angels

Jac Caglianone went 3-for-4 with a home run and a career-high five RBIs as the Kansas City Royals snapped a four-game losing streak with a 7-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday in Anaheim, Calif.

Michael Massey also homered and had three hits and two RBIs while Bobby Witt Jr. reached base three times and scored two runs for Kansas City, which improved to 4-0 against the Angels this season.

Alex Lange (2-7) picked up the win in relief. Steven Cruz pitched a scoreless ninth to notch his fourth save.

Nolan Schanuel went 2-for-4 with a double and matched his career high with four RBIs for Los Angeles, which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Josh Lowe hit a home run, and Tyler Heineman had two hits and two runs.

Tayler Saucedo (0-1) allowed two runs on two hits in one-third of an inning of relief.

The Royals produced the decisive two-run rally in the seventh inning to go ahead 7-6. Witt singled with one out and then scored all the way from first base on a single to right by Caglianone, who advanced to second on shortstop Zach Neto's error on a throw to the plate. After Luke Murphy replaced Saucedo on the mound and got a groundout, Massey singled to right, driving in Caglianone.

In the opener of a three-game series, Kansas City took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Massey's 10th home run, a 400-foot blast into the right field bleachers.

The Royals extended the margin to 3-0 in the third inning on a two-run, bases-loaded single by Caglianone. The Angels responded with four runs in the bottom half, highlighted by a three-run double by Schanuel and an RBI single by Neto.

Kansas City regained the lead, 5-4, in the fifth inning on a two-run homer to right-center by Caglianone off reliever Sammy Peralta. It was the 22nd home run of the season for Caglianone, who extended his hit streak to 12 games, the longest active stretch in the major leagues.

Los Angeles tied it in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Schanuel, driving in Heineman, who had singled and advanced to third on a double by Mike Trout.

Lowe gave the Angels a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning with his ninth home run, a 407-foot drive to right.
